John Olsen 1928-2023
Born in Newcastle in January 1928, John Olsen created unique visions of Australian landscapes through his energetic painting styles. Moving from the steel city at age 19 to study art, Olsen frequently visited Newcastle throughout his career to exhibit his artworks that reflect his affection for the Hunter region’s beaches, harbour, lake, and wetlands.
